The aim of a clinical trial is to test the effectiveness and safety of substances contained in a drug used to treat patients affected by a given disease. This is a necessary condition for comparing the effectiveness of the drug with other medicinal products already available on the market and for the final approval of the drug for sale. In order to make this possible, it must undergo several phases of clinical trials (I-IV).
At each stage of the trial, a number of detailed procedures are used to guarantee patients their rights and ensure maximum safety. Patients must meet specific medical criteria to participate in the trial. This is decided by the doctor who acts as the researcher. Participation in the trial is completely voluntary and requires signing the informed consent to participate in the clinical trial. When recruiting patients for the trial, the researcher is obliged to explain to patients all issues related to the course of the conducted research procedures with particular care.
The President of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products is responsible for the control of the clinical trial process in Poland. He supervises clinical trials and makes decisions on the admission of new drugs to the market. The ethical side is overseen by Bioethics Committees, whose task is to review the clinical trial in terms of ethics and guarantee all rights to patients taking part in the clinical trial.

4. Immunology: lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, thyroid disease, myasthenia, multiple sclerosis, vitiligo, psoriasis, alopecia areata, sarcoidosis, type 1 and type 2 diabetes
5. Rheumatology: rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, lupus erythematosus systemic, polymyositis, dermatomyositis
6. Endocrinology: hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, type 1 diabetes, autoimmune diseases
7. Gastroenterology: gastroesophageal reflux disease, barrett’s esophagus, peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, dyspepsia, gastritis, duodenal diverticula, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
